Adotta un vigneto in Valtellina è un progetto nato nel 2007 da una idea di Giacomo Moioli, Aldo Rainoldi e Beppe Bonseri, con la fondamentale partecipazione di Abele Branchi che è il proprietario della vigna a Teglio.
Dopo alcuni anni il progetto prosegue attraverso l'adozione di altre vigne, coinvolgendo altri ristoratori valtellinesi ma sempre con la supervisione di Moioli e la vinificazione della cantina Rainoldi.
Da alcuni mesi anche noi dell'Hotel Nordik abbiamo "adottato" un pezzettino di vigna di Abele proponendo il Valgella DOCG.

Ogni anno le Guide Alpine di tutto il mondo (ma soprattutto europee) si sfidano sulla neve nel campionato internazionale di sci alpino; recentemente è stata introdotta anche la salita con le pelli e quindi anche una classifica di combinata. La 39° edizione si è tenuta dall 4 all' 8 maggio a Solda in Alto Adige. Il gruppo delle "nostre" Guide aveva tra gli elementi di spicco, papà Giuseppe, Giorgio Compagnoni, Tino Pietrogiovanna, Tullio Faifer e altri, tutti accompagnati da gentili consorti/tifose.
Un plauso a Giuseppe che dopo vari acciacci alla schiena l'inveno scorso, ha strabiliato tutti con una super performance in slalom gigante, guadagnando il gradino più alto del podio di categoria, portando importanti punti alla squadra
Purtroppo, per ora, non sono pervenute foto dai partecipanti, (troppo impegnati a preparare la gara prima, ed a festeggiare poi..) alleghiamo quindi comunicazioni istituzionali e classifiche.
Bravi a tutti ed al prossimo anno! (in Francia credo)

Capita (anche spesso!) che alcuni ospiti arrivino in Hotel dopo un viaggio travagliato. Infatti inserendo come destinazione Santa Caterina Valfurva (ma anche Bormio) alcuni navigatori satellitari segnalano un percorso errato! Molte volte propongono il tragitto attraverso il passo Gavia come il migliore e preferito per raggiungere l'Alta Valtellina. Quindi, ATTENZIONE !! soprattutto da ottobre a maggio quando il passo è chiuso e si transita solo....con gli sci !!

Una marmitta di Cavaglia

Un giorno di alcuni anni fa abbiamo raggiunto per caso questo posto interessante in Valposchiavo. Cavaglia è una frazioncina a pochi km da Poschiavo in Svizzera. Si raggiunge in auto, altrimenti con il famoso Trenino Rosso del Bernina che parte da Tirano. Dista circa 77 km da Santa Caterina Valfurva passando da Tirano, oppure circa 90 km passando da Livigno-Passo della Forcola.
A Cavaglia c'è il Giardino dei Ghiacciai di Cavaglia un sito dove sono visibili e visitabili una serie di "Marmitte dei Giganti". Dopo un caffè ed un saluto ai nostri amici Stefano, "Pisi", Mauro e Lorenzo, via lungo il facile e panoramico percorso tracciato fino al ponte dell'Alpe. Qui, seguendo un tratto la strada provinciale del Gavia (fino al tornate dove si stacca la strada per il ponte delle Vacche) abbiamo poi percorso il sentiero tracciato dalla linea elettrica. Di nuovo incrocio con la strada e pochi metri sull'asfalto; single trail fino a Santa Caterina Valfurva zona della "Sella" pista da Fondo. E' stata l'occasione per inaugurare la nuova applicazione per iPhone "Easytrail" con la quale ho inserito la traccia su google maps. Riassumendo: bel percorso, bella compagnia, qualche graffio dovuto a scarsa dimestichezza in discesa, comunque assolutamente da rifare!

Secondo appuntamento: Chiesa di Teregua. Si tratta di una chiesetta che si trova nella frazione di Teregua nel comune di Valfurva. E' facile raggiungerla: una volta a San Nicolò, proprio di fronte al Municipio, si svolta verso sx (per chi arriva da Bormio) direzione Val Zebrù/Madonna dei Monti. Ecco che pochi metri dopo, al primo tornante verso dx si stacca una stradina che porta appunto a Teregua. Pochi metri ancora e siete davanti alla chiesa. Merita interesse perchè l'associazione Teregua ha appena completato l'opera di restauro; esterno ed interno. Ora, è possibile visitarla in giorni ed orari che potete trovare sul sito dell'associazione, inoltre, gli affreschi interni sono opera di un certo Vincezo De Barberis che ha dipinto anche le chiese di Santa Lucia e San Pietro a Piatta (Valdisotto). Durante i mesi di Luglio, Agosto e Settembre è possibile visitare il "tris" di chiese, accompagnati da guida con incluso trasporto. Esperienza da non lasciarsi sfuggire per chi vuole avvicinarsi ad un poco di storia sacra dell'Alta Valtellina.

Un luogo nel comune di Valdisotto a pochi minuti di auto da Bormio, dove è possibile visitare e vivere un pò di storia militare che ha lasciato segni importanti nel nostro territorio e nella nostra gente. Il Forte è stato restaurato recentemente ed ora anche opportunamente gestito. Qui sotto alcuni link che possono aiutare a capire un pò di più di questo importante reperto. Ero curioso di vedere quanta neve c'è al Passo Gavia, quindi sabato 22/05 sono salito in auto poco sopra la località di Plaghera. Qui la sbarra sulla strada impediva di andare oltre, e quindi ho proseguito a piedi fino al passo! Bellissima passeggiata con la compagnia delle marmotte che fischiavano avvisando il mio arrivo. Al passo ho trovato Chicco, Silvano ed Elisa Bonetta che gesticono il rifugio omonimo presissimi dai lavori di avvio stagione, oltre a chi terminava il lavoro di apertura della strada (lato Brescia). Un panino, una birretta e via di nuovo verso Santa Caterina....

Il blog compie un anno. Il primo post era del 22 maggio 2009, se vola il tempo! Siamo stati un pò discontinui nello scrivere ultimamente...

Volevo segnalare orari e costi estivi della cabinovia qui a Santa Caterina Valfurva. Come gli anni scorsi, anche quest'estate 2010 gli ospiti dell'Hotel Nordik hanno la possibilità di utilizzare gratuitamente e senza limiti la cabinovia; infatti semplicemente attraverso una richiesta alla reception verranno forniti i biglietti andata e ritorno.

Per chi non ci è mai stato la cabinovia parte dai 1.738 metri di Santa Caterina e porta con il primo troncone all'altezza di Plaghera (2.100 metri circa), all'interno della stazione si cambia cabina ed il secondo tratto porta in cresta Sobretta. Qui è doveroso scendere per poter osservare da un punto privilegiato il bellissimo panorama a 360° che ci circonda. Dalla cresta Sobretta si può scendere a piedi verso la stazione di arrivo della cabinovia oppure risalire e compiere sempre in cabina l'ultimo tratto. Ora siamo arrivati nella conca della Valle dell'Alpe, vicino al magnifico rifugio Sunny Valley Kelo Resort. Da qui si parte per escursioni di ogni tipo verso la cima del Sobretta o la Valle di Rezzalo che porta poi in quel di Frontale in comune di Sondalo.

Purtroppo la primavera si stà facendo desiderare qui a Santa Caterina Valfurva, speriamo in una bella estate 2010. I prossimi importanti appuntamenti sono il passaggio del Giro d'Italia e la 2° edizione della Cammina e Gusta. In occasione del Giro saremo aperti a fine maggio (28 e 29/05), la tappa con partenza da Bormio, dopo un tour in Valposchiavo, passerà a Livigno e di nuovo a Bormio, poi vedrà il passaggio sul passo Gavia (cima Coppi) il pomeriggio di sabato 29.
Riapriremo poi a fine Giugno, proprio in occasione della Cammina e Gusta, la bellissima iniziativa sulla quale proponiamo anche un pacchetto speciale.

Domenica sera scorsa ho inforcato gli sci di alpinismo e lungo la pista Cevedale ho raggiunto l'arrivo dello skilift Gavia. Faceva un pò freddo, soprattutto da Plaghera in sù. Ero in compagnia dei gatti delle nevi che già erano al lavoro. Tolte le pelli di foca sono subito sceso e durante l'ultimo tratto della pista ho provato a filmare la discesa con la macchina fotografica (il video non è il massimo!) Bella uscita! magari la prossima con il sole! Per chi legge, ricordo che ogni martedì sera qui a Santa Caterina Valfurva c'è la possibilità di sciare sulla pista Deborah Compagnoni illuminata; la cabinovia è aperta dalle 20,30 alle 23,00. C'è poi sempre un buon vin brulè offerto dai ragazzi di Santa Caterina che Vi aspetta in fondo alla pista.

Intanto vogliamo farvi vedere un breve video che Simone ha girato alcuni giorni fa con alcuni amici. Il freeride (fuoripista) fatto in sicurezza è facile e divertente; potrete provarlo anche Voi! In aprile stiamo organizzando una settimana freeride con un camp per chi volesse avvicinarsi a questa nuova tendenza.

Comunque tutto a posto, terminata la pioggia, ancora una nevicata ed un calo delle temperature ha sistemato tutto. Le piste sono in ottime condizioni, anche la pista di fondo è al top come il nuovo campetto scuola ed il tapis roulant qui in paese. Dal novembre 2007 anche il nostro hotel è allacciato alla rete di teleriscaldamento di Santa Caterina Valfurva. Realizzata dalla TCVVV (Teleriscaldamento Coogenerazione Valtellina Valchiavenna Valcamonica) si compone di una centrale con deposito del cippato annesso, situata all'entrata del paese (per chi arriva da Bormio) e da una rete di tubi completamente interrata che serve tutta la località. In questi giorni i lavori stanno completando gli allacciamenti in zona Vedig; dalla Benedicta in poi. Abbiamo ricevuto dalla TCVVV un piccolo schema che comunica i consumi relativi al periodo dal 1 Luglio '08 al 30 Giugno '09 e raffronta i costi con i risparmi ottenuti dall'utilizzo del teleriscaldamento rispetto al gasolio. Se il tempo lo permette ogni estate organizziamo settimanalmente (quest'anno il giovedì) un pranzo all'aperto a base di polenta, salsiccie ed altre buone cose. Per questo utilizziamo una baita ed il prato annesso al monte "Sell" a pochi minuti da Santa Caterina Valfurva. Un primo gruppo di persone accompagnato da Simone oppure Giuseppe parte dall'hotel per una escursione di 2/3 ore raggiungendo il resto del gruppo all'ora di pranzo. Mentre si preparano tavoli e gazebi, chi si occupa della cucina cuoce polenta e salsiccie alla griglia (quest'anno Damiano ha sistemato una vecchia cucina da hotel per essere meglio organizzati). I più pigri invece possono raggiungere la baita accompagnati da Pietro in Land Rover. Il ritorno, nel pomeriggio lungo la strada più breve dura circa 15/20 minuti a piedi.

Io, Pietro e Ruggero, cliente-amico di lunga data, siamo partiti alle 4,30 del mattino dall' Hotel Nordik in Land Rover verso il rifugio Branca. La nostra meta era il Palon de la Mare m. 3685 e ci siamo arrivati dopo 3 ore e 45 min. di cammino dopo un primo tratto di sentiero, poi nevaio e ghiacciaio, ultimi metri ancora su roccia e neve. La giornata era talmente bella ed i fisici ancora "abbastanza tonici" che abbiamo deciso di proseguire verso la cima del Cevedale m. 3769 per poi fare ritorno attraverso il colle Pasquale al rifugio Branca. Festeggiamo il 40° anniversario dell'uomo sulla luna (20 luglio 1969) con l'acquisto di un telescopio Swarovski ATM 80 HD. A dire il vero noi l'abbiamo preso per osservare meglio la fauna del Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio durante le escursioni, comunque nelle serate di sereno proveremo a fare un pò di astronomia! Oltre a testarlo sul terrazzo dell'Hotel, Pietro lo ha già portato con sè in una prima uscita serale in Val Zebrù e ci ha confermato la potenza del prodotto; "cervi e stambecchi come fossero a pochi metri". Siamo a metà Luglio e nevica! Ieri mattina la neve ha sfiorato Santa Caterina Valfurva. Non è "attaccata" ai 1700 metri ma poco sopra sì. Anche la temperatura è scesa sfiorando lo zero. Poveri fiori! Questa mattina ci siamo svegliati con un cielo sereno senza una nuvola, sono salito verso mezzogiorno in cabinovia (primo giorno di apertura) in Valle dell'Alpe ed ho scattato qualche foto.

Michele Compagnoni, tecnico dell'azienda Unitbit di Bormio ha sistemato il tutto in meno di un'ora di lavoro. L'area coperta è quella della zona reception-bar. Sabato 4 Luglio a Livigno ho incrociato sulla via pedonale un ragazzo che indossava (fiero!) la t-shirt del Nordik Grand Prix (NGP) edizione 2008. Il NGP è un appuntamento che organizziamo ogni anno solitamente il week-end precedente o successivo la Pasqua. La giornata di sabato è molto intensa: si comincia con la gara di slalom gigante (molto facile e breve!) sulle piste di Plaghera, dopodichè si raggiunge il rifugio per un'aperitivo tutti assieme, accompagnato dalla musica di una band. Dopo aver pranzato, tutti a ballare (anche sui tavoli!) con la compagnia di qualche birretta..... L'appuntamento finale è poi dopo cena al Pub Camino per la premiazione e l'estrazione a sorteggio di alcuni premi. Nella quota di iscrizione è compresa una t-shirt che tutti i concorrenti (ed altri) indossano quasi da subito. Abbiamo raccolto una serie di foto che documentano i 9 anni del Nordik Grand Prix. Vi aspettiamo numersi per la decima edizione ad Aprile 2010.

Nei mesi estivi la tavola dell'Hotel Nordik è sempre ben fornita di verdura fresca che viene coltivata da mamma Caterina con l'aiuto di Veronica negli orti di Sant'Antonio Valfurva. In queste foto scattate oggi pomeriggio, la pulizia delle erbacce (nel nostro dialetto: sérclér) ed il sistema di irrigazione in azione. Sant'Antonio Valfurva è a circa 1.300 msl e quindi il tipo di raccolto è quello che è. Comunque abbiamo: vari tipi di insalate, coste, fagiolini, cavoli di bruxelles, verze, patate, carote, zucchine, erbette....ed anche una pianta di mele ed una di prugne! La coltivazione è completamente naturale, senza aggiunta di fertilizzanti, additivi, concimi artificiali ecc. ecc.
100% biologica!! Vi aspettiamo in Hotel per una insalata!

E' appena uscito il programma di escursioni guidate nel Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio. Il programma parte il 21 Giugno e termina il 27 Settembre. Ecco, finalmente arrivati i fiori per i nostri balconi. Una prima fornitura ieri sera ed il resto oggi. Il nostro fornitore è Ciceri di Erba (Co) Quest'anno abbiamo scelto surfinie bianche, parigini rossi e bidens gialli. Sono 70 vaschette per ogni colore, per un totale di 210 vasi!!! Ora dobbiamo sistemarli sui balconi, un lavoraccio!! Comunque alla fine una bella soddisfazione, infatti l'anno scorso abbiamo vinto il primo premio del concorso balcone fiorito in Valfurva, catergoria Hotels, organizzato dall'amministrazione comunale. Quest'anno ritenteremo il bis. Per fortuna nel 2008 assieme al nostro idraulico Daniele, abbiamo predisposto il sistema automatico di innaffiatura in tutti i balconi, non vi dico prima quanti litri di acqua Pietro e Veronica dovevano versare ogni due giorni; (circa 2 ore di lavoro).

La cabinovia raggiunge in tre tronconi la Valle dell'Alpe a 2600 metri. Lì vicino, a soli 50 metri dalla stazione di arrivo è situato un bellissimo rifugio: il Sunny Valley Kelo Resort assolutamente da visitare! con all'interno una mostra fotografica sulla grande guerra, che ha visto nelle nostre zone alcune battaglie di frontiera!

Da ormai un anno è attiva la centralina meteo qui all'Hotel Nordik. Si tratta di una centrale meteo semiprofessionale DAVIS modello Vantage PRO 2. E' composta da 3 elementi: 1) La base, che riceve, elabora e trasmette i dati. 2) Pluviometro, termometro, igrometro 3) Anemometro. La base si trova in ufficio, riceve via radio i dati dalle 2 stazioni esterne, è collegata ad un pc e trasmette tramite internet i dati al centrometeolombardo. L'elemento 2 l'abbiamo messo sul retro dell'hotel, è alimentato con un piccolo pannello solare e raccoglie la pioggia (neve durante l'inverno) nella vaschetta. Il terzo elemento è anche questo alimentato con energia solare e si trova sul tetto dell'hotel. Tutti i dati si possono visualizzare in tempo reale a questo link meteo nordik
